What is a virtual investment?
Before a syndicate is finalised, it appears on the founder’s investor tracker as a placeholder, or virtual investment. This allows the founder to track commitments while the lead builds the syndicate.
Once the syndicate allocation is met and all investors have passed KYC, the syndicate lead notifies the founder in the workflow. The founder will see a message that the syndicate is ready and they can click to confirm the investment. This action flips the syndicate’s investment to an actual investment on the round and on the company’s captable. The syndicate deal sheet is then populated with the correct amounts.
