How to format text in Additional Items
Format your Additional Items wording with line breaks, bold and italics so it matches the rest of your document.
Our agreements cover most deal terms, but sometimes you’ll want to add wording of your own. If a term isn’t covered by our built-in options, you can include it in an Additional Items section. You’ll find these in places like:
• Term Sheet > Additional Items
• Advanced Terms > Shareholders Agreement Additional Items
• Advanced Terms > Articles Additional Items
Your wording goes straight into the final document, so taking a few minutes to match the formatting will help it fit in with the rest. A few simple tips can help you bring it closer to the style of the surrounding clauses.
Start with line breaks
Line breaks make a big difference and are a great place to start. They give your wording room to breathe, making it easier to read rather than leaving it in one long block.
• Leave a blank line between each clause or paragraph.
• Put each list item, like (a), (b) and (c), on its own line.
Make text bold
To make your text bold, simply add two asterisks before it and two after it.
- **Register of Share Charges** shows as Register of Share Charges
Bold is a great choice for clause headings, helping them fit in with the headings throughout your document.
Make text italic
To make your text italic, simply add two underscores before it and two after it.
-
__Companies Act 2006__ shows as Companies Act 2006
A little italic text goes a long way, so try saving it for details like the name of an Act or another document.
Putting it all together

Before you share
-
Preview the document. Check the formatting came out the way you expected.
-
Check your numbering. If you’ve added your own clause numbers, make sure they follow on from the rest of the document.
-
Keep it consistent. If one heading is bold, make them all bold.
Please bear in mind that we can’t write bespoke wording for Additional Items or check it for legal accuracy. If you’re unsure about the wording itself, we recommend getting independent legal advice.
